I am very blessed to join St. Mary’s Catholic School this year as the third-grade teacher. Although this is my first year teaching elementary, I have been in the education field for almost 9 years. I discovered my calling for teaching back when I was a senior in high school. I had awesome teachers and mentors, who believed in my capabilities and still support me to this day. After continuous prayer, I am a firm believer that God led my path, and he prepared me for this position at St. Mary’s.
I am originally from Michoacan, Mexico. Myself and my family immigrated to the U.S. back in 2006 after ten years of sacrifice waiting for our residency status. While I am not originally from here, I consider Texas my home, and I am very grateful for all the opportunities. We initially lived in the outskirts of Whitney and attended Hillsboro schools. Upon graduation, I worked as a receptionist for Hillsboro ISD and attended college at the same time. Also along this time, my precious son, Caleb, came into my life. As a mother and firm believer in the Catholic faith, I decided to seek other opportunities that would allow my son to grow up having a close relationship with God. This is when St. Mary’s School came into perspective. We both knew it would take a lot of commitment and sacrifice, but we were eager to take on the blessing. Transitioning from public school was difficult. Leaving my job and home in Hillsboro was unanticipated, but God had better plans for us!
Fortuitously, we found a home and with very short notice decided to move to this beautiful community of West. My life partner, Juan, who is originally from this town has been a key piece and our biggest support! I truly believe these opportunities are answered prayers from God. We appreciate all the welcoming and supportive community members. Deep inside my heart, I am sure this is exactly where God wants us to be, and it truly feels like home!
