I began my career at St. Mary’s in 1982 as a junior high math teacher. I worked here at St. Mary's in many different capacities until May of 2020 when I decided to retire and help with my grandchildren due to the Covid epidemic. I was not sure if I was ready to retire, but I knew that my children needed my help. I stayed busy with my retirement, but something kept calling me back to the classroom and I began to pray about what God may be calling me to do. Then in the spring of 2023 Mrs. Sammon asked me if I would like to return as a part time religion teacher and I felt that God had answered my prayers. This school year I returned as the part time fifth grade teacher and co-teach with Mrs. Carolyn Waters. I am very excited about returning to the classroom as the Reading, Language Arts and Social Studies teacher. I am not sure how long I will stay at St. Mary’s; I will trust in our Lord to lead me on the right path from year to year.
I have been married to my wonderful husband Ernie for over 40 years. We have 3 children and 7 beautiful grandchildren. Our oldest daughter Melinda Lucas, is the first-grade teacher here at St. Mary’s. Our son Ernie Joe is a farmer and rancher and our youngest daughter Catie works for the ASCS office. St. Mary’s School has always had a special place in my heart and I am so blessed to be a part of this school once again.
