My name is Katie Kaska and I grew up in Hillsboro, Texas. I graduated from Abbott High school in 2001. I started my college career at MCC as a Tartan and Presidential scholar. After taking all the classes I could take, I transferred to Baylor University to study Communication Sciences and Disorders. In 2005, I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders. I was accepted into graduate school at Baylor University where much of my studies were in school based and language/literacy courses. During my graduate school courses, Baylor University hosted Camp Success, a Speech Therapy based reading program for children who were behind in reading skills. I walked the stage in December of 2006 with my Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders. As a speech language pathologist, I have worked with both children and adults in a hospital, home health, outpatient clinic, and nursing home setting. I love working with people of all ages and it brings me great joy to see the progress they make.
I am excited to bring my language and literacy skills to the Kindergarten classroom. I love to read and I know my students will love it as well! I am Level 1 Certified Educated for Google Education and this past summer I recently became Level 1 certified in Responsive Classroom.
I am married to Chad Kaska and we own CJK Farms, LLC in Abbott, Texas. Even though this is my 3rd year teaching at St. Mary’s Catholic School, this is my 9th year as a parent. My son Quintin is a 7th grader and my daughter Camille will be in 3rd grade. My youngest, Kiera, is at the St. Mary’s daycare. My husband Chad and I feel that St. Mary’s is the best place for our children to attend school. I am thankful I can be on campus with them!
